Hi Sabine, hi all,
are you suggesting a month of discussion of ideas? a moderated forum (which we have not had in a while), or perhaps a review/discussion of work recently shown ?
(in London we had, in one week, Merce Cunningham's "Nearly 90" and Pina Bausch's early "Iphigenia" from the 1970s, a rather brilliant contrast of choreographies from the late innovators.)
someone, i think, wrote a blog review and titled the latter production "An Iphigenia for the Jerry Springer age" -- ah, I found it, it's a review in the New Statesman. now what might it mean to speak of an Iphigenia for the Jerry Springer age?
The Guardian response to Cunningham's piece was also interesting, in that the critic felt the stage set, video projections and music distracted from the dance, making the "choreography almost unwatchable."
I find this quite interesting. I wonder whether anyone who has seen the "Nearly Ninety" (and earlier Cunningham collaborations with media or visual artists) might like to post a comment?
