Call for Papers – Panel “Television Audiences and uses: Beyond
Consumption”
EuroITV is the leading international conference for media related to
video and television. EuroITV is attended by academia and professionals
from all over the world to discuss latest advances and research of media
technology, HCI, media studies, and the content creation community. The
organizing committee invites all members of ECREA to submit original,
high quality papers addressing the special theme and topics, for
presentation at the conference and inclusion in the proceedings. The
main conference proceedings will be published by ACM.
During EuroITV 2011 we will held a special ECREA “television studies
section” panel on “Television Audiences and uses: Beyond Consumption”,
to which we welcome the presentation of proposals that address issues
such as: television after the network era, transmedia/cross-media
formats, ubiquitous TV, the evolution of television formats and its
relation to technological evolution; audiences new uses of television,
transnational television and technological change.
All ECREA Television studies section members will benefit from a reduce
fee to the conference.
Confirmed keynote speakers:
Jonathan Taplin - Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at
the University of Southern California and Managing Director of the USC
Annenberg Innovation Lab (http://www.annenberglab.com/ ). Taplin's areas
of specialization are in international communication management and the
field of digital media entertainment.
Fernando Pereira – Professor at the Electrical and Computers Engineering
Department of Instituto Superior Técnico. Pereira has been participating
in the MPEG standardization activities, notably as chairman of the MPEG
Requirements Group. His areas of interest are video analysis, coding,
description and adaptation, and advanced multimedia services.

Conference Tracks:
This year’s conference consists of four tracks, each with their own
program committee and separate track chairs, coordinated by two overall
program chairs. Full papers, short papers and posters have to be
submitted in one of these tracks, to optimize the review process. If not
sure, choose the track which is closest to the main topic of your
submission, and of which you feel that community is most appropriate to
review your work.

Track 2: Media, Social and Economic Studies
Track 3: Systems and Enabling Technologies
Track 4: Interactive Content & Arts
Paper submissions will be peer-reviewed. The main proceedings will be
published by ACM, and be made available in the ACM Digital Library
(http://portal.acm.org/). Extended versions of selected papers will be
considered for a special issue in a journal.
