Dear Colleagues,
As you may have heard, Lifelong Learning UK are undertaking a review of the Information and Library Services, Archives Services and Records Management National Occupational Standards (NOS). We are working with the sector to ensure that the standards meet the needs of those who use them and are offering public review opportunities in November.
The draft of the revised standards being consulted on differs dramatically from the current set of NOS, suggesting a final total of seventeen standards for “all working within a library, archive or information management service within the public or private sector”. It is therefore more important than ever that the new standards are validated by the sector.
The event will now take place at the Glamorgan Archives, Clos Parc Morgannwg, Leckwith, Cardiff, CF11 8AW at 12.00-15.30 on 23 November. Please go to this link to find out more and to register. http://laisnoseventcardiff231110.eventbrite.com/
If you wish to contribute to the review but are unable to attend, please see our website where the draft NOS and a questionnaire are available to download. It is also possible to ‘Host your own’ NOS event - http://lluk.org/4757.htm.
We would be very grateful if you would pass on details of the review to other colleagues and/or external contacts with an interest in the libraries, archives and information services (LAIS) sector.
Many thanks for your support
Mark
