The National Committee for Information Resources on Asia (NACIRA  -
formerly NCOLR)
  will hold its annual one-day conference in London on December 7th 2010

The theme for this year's conference is
NEW DIGITAL RESOURCES FOR ASIAN and MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES

All are welcome. Details are below and also at http://nacira.org.uk

When  : Tuesday December 7th 2010  10.30am - 4.00pm
Where : The Japan Foundation, 6th Floor, Russell Square House, 10-12
Russell Square, London, WC1B 5EH
Cost    : £50 - includes lunch. £15 for students.

Speakers this year are
Rachel Rowe, Smuts Librarian in South Asian and Commonwealth Studies,
Centre of South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge - on progress in
the digitisation of the Centre’s film and oral history collection

Malcolm Raggett, Technical Advisor to the Fürer-Haimendorf Archive
Digitisation Project at SOAS
  - on creating an online resource for the historical study of tribal
cultures in South Asia and the Himalayas

Jane Lewisohn, Research Associate and Principal Researcher for the Golha
project at the School of Oriental and African Studies - on preserving
the Intangible Heritage of Iran: 20th Century Classical Persian Music:
The Golha project sponsored by the Endangered Archives project and the
Iran Heritage Foundation

Sam van Schaik, Senior Researcher for the International Dunhuang Project
  at the British Library - on recent developments in the project

If you would like to attend, please complete the registration form below
and return it with your payment to: - Gill Goddard, Secretary, NACIRA,
at the address below by Friday 26th November, 2010. Cheques are to be
made payable to the National Committee for Information Resources on Asia.
