Oxford and Boston, 3rd November 2010 - Credo Reference, the award-winning
online reference library, has signed an agreement with Johns Hopkins
University Press to integrate their acclaimed Encyclopedia of American
Studies (EAS) into the Credo General Reference service. With this agreement
Johns Hopkins University Press joins the growing list of university presses
with their best reference content available on the Credo Reference platform.
The Encyclopedia of American Studies was first published as a four-volume
print edition for scholars and college, graduate and high school students, a
work that would be accessible yet authoritative and that would cover the
range of American history and culture from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Offering more than 700 articles and biographies (with accompanying
bibliographies) the EAS supports research and study in a wide range of
disciplines related to the history and cultures of the United States, from
pre-colonial days to the present. Miles Orvell, the Editor-in-Chief of the
EAS, received the Bode-Pearson Prize for Outstanding Contributions to
American Studies last year due to his contributions to this important
resource.
"Johns Hopkins University Press has worked to make the EAS as widely
available as possible so we are thrilled to have our title available to the
millions of people with access to Credo General Reference" commented Bill
Breichner, Johns Hopkins University Press Journals Publisher. "The EAS will
have broad appeal for Credo users since American studies contributes to so
many academic subjects."
"We are continuing to fill out our Credo General Reference coverage of both
history and the various interdisciplinary area studies." added John Dove,
Credo Reference President, "the EAS very nicely complements our growing set
of subject encyclopaedias covering these subjects."
