Hello Martin
Here at Hull we subscribe to Serials Solutions Marc service to provide all our e-journal records. The subscription costs the equivalent of two thirds of a band 3 library assistant(our lowest grade). We currently have about 38,000 e-journal marc records on our catalogue. New records, along with tracked changes and deletions are loaded via our LMS (Innovative Millennium) on a monthly basis - a process that usually takes a couple of hours. On the odd occasion when we have had to re-load all our e-journal records e.g. when we converted to Marc21, then the process takes a little longer.
We find the service to be reliable, efficient and a cost effective way of keeping our catalogue accurate. Last year we made over 400,000 changes (usually where platforms have changed url or we needed to insert notes for our users) to our e journal marc records via Serials Solutions. We could not do this quickly ourselves as we do not have the staff time.
Best wishes
Denise

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Importing MARC e-journal records
Hi,
Do other HE libraries import MARC e-journal records to their library
catalogue? This is something we are just starting to look into as a way of
saving staff time so I would be interested to find out how other HE
libraries go about doing this.
Thanks,
Martin
