The Knowledge Technology (KT) Research Group of Universiti Kebangsaan
Malaysia is pleased to announce the First International Conference on
Semantic Technology and Information Retrieval (STAIR'11). STAIR'11 aims to
bring together researchers, academicians, scientist and professionals to
exchange new ideas and latest achievements in the areas of knowledge
technology. The conference draws on several research areas, such as
Knowledge Management System, Information and Knowledge Extraction,
Information Retrieval (IR), Digital Library and Records Management, and
Semantic Computing.
Prospective authors are invited to submit original research articles and not
published or currently submitted under review for another workshop,
conference, or journal. Kindly refer Topics below for details. All submitted
papers will be refereed by experts in the respective fields according to the
criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity.

Authors are invited to contribute articles that describe significant
advances in the following areas, but are not limited to:
1. Semantic Technology: Semantic Web, Semantic Search and Retrieval,
Ontology Engineering, Application of Ontology , Semantic Integration,
Semantic Based Analysis, Application using Semantics, etc.
2. Information Retrieval: Foundation of Information Retrieval, Social
Networks for IR, Distributed IR, Machine Learning for IR, Filtering, IR
Evaluation, Language Specific IR, Domain-specific IR, Multimedia IR etc.
3. Natural Language Processing: Phonology and Morphology, Syntax and
Parsing, Discourse, Dialogue, and Pragmatics, Summarization and Generation,
Information Extraction, Language Resources and Tools, Natural Language
Processing Applications, etc.
4. Knowledge Management: Advertising and Optimization, Classification and
Clustering, Information Extraction, Knowledge Synthesis and Visualization,
Temporal and Spatial data Mining, Knowledge Management Systems etc.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS AND PROCEEDINGS

High-quality papers in all STAIR'11 related areas are solicited. Paper
submissions should be limited to a maximum of 8 pages in the IEEE 2-column
format.
The same format will be used for final camera-ready papers (see the Author
Guidelines at http://www.ftsm.ukm.my/stair11/submission.html)
All submitted papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee on the basis
of technical quality, relevance, significance, and clarity.
