Just a quick update from the team at Digging for Britain....
We are still very much in the research stage for series #2 so please keep sending us your projects and we will follow them up with you....thank you for all your responses so far.
In the mean time, we want to tell you all about the exciting online Archaeology project that 360 Production have launched.....
We have just run a 12 day dig diary of the excavation of a newly discovered Neolithic tomb on the Orkney island of South Ronaldsay.
After discussing the project with archaeologists from ORCA, we ran a press release with the BBC online team. This story went right to the top of the headlines and got over 250,000 hits! We then linked through to the dig diary on our Youtube channel.

Similarly the PAS lead excavation of the Bronze Age hoard in Burnham on Crouch has been viewed by over 20,000 people and had equal numbers of readers on the BBC news site. Watch Laura MacClean in action here:

We are looking for more of this - we want to show archaeology all year round as it happens online. The dig diary of the Orkney tomb has now had over 70,000 hits, people are coming back again and again to find out what you guys really do in the field on a daily basis! We have learned from not only this example but from Digging for Britain series 1, that the public are enthralled by your work, and they want to know more.....
So we provide you with a handy-cam and basic script and then you tell Britain the story of your project day by day and how it is adding to our archaeological knowledge - if the dig/conservation lasts a day or a month - we can work together on the press release and grab people with a news story - who then follow you online. This need not be time consuming - a few minutes three times a day is plenty!
If you have a project which you want publicity for, please contact me now and we can bring it to the wider audience.
Many thanks,
Gemma & the 360 Production team
