Subject: International Seminar 2010 - expressions of interest please?
Dear all,
I am currently working on the idea of applying for funding for an international seminar on the interface between human rights and the environment, for May 2012. I am looking, at this early stage, for expressions of interest in being involved in such an event. All costs would be paid, but for travel costs - but food, accommodation and a seminar room are provided.
In order to make the bid, I need about 20 people who can commit to a date, in principle, in May 2012 - hence this early call for expressions of interest.
The theme of the workshop would be 'Human Rights and the Environment: In Search of a New Relationship'. Abstracts/ideas for papers should ideally focus upon new potential ways of configuring the relationship between human rights and the environment in order to suggest the potential for moving beyond the contemporary limitations of their relationship, and the internal limitations of both fields. There will be three main subject sections: 'Philosophical Re-Investigations'; 'Reconfiguring the Legal'; 'Activism and Praxis' - thus involving theoretical, doctrinal and practice-based discussions and bringing them together, hopefully, into a refreshing and engaging set of critical encounters. The idea would be to collate the papers as chapters of an edited collection after the event.
Please can I just have expressions of interest for now? Ideally the contributing scholars/NGO activists need to be as international as possible. Please contact me at [log in to unmask] by December 1st if interested.
Warm regards,
Anna
