Job Summary :
The objectives of the GIS Manager will be as follows:
Promote the use of GIS in raising awareness of GIS’s potential amongst staff at all levels
Identify how GIS can be better used in identifying new opportunities to use GIS and driving innovation
Engage with clients and senior managers in market development activities
Develop new GIS products, services and project methodologies
Support GIS Users – providing technical support, training, data management and proactive communication with GIS users
Support external bids where GIS can enhance market offering
Liaise with the UK GIS Manager and team (which provides GIS leadership and support across all the UK businesses), ensuring that GIS needs and aspirations are adequately represented and supported from the centre as appropriate.
Develop, lead, direct and manage the virtual GIS team.
Co-ordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and reviews input from team members.
Deal with the day to day queries from site, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
• Report to the client any variance between the works constructed and the design intent.
• Project manage small / simple projects, using applicable project management tools.
Business and Team Functions :
The specific tasks carried out by the GIS team are as follows:
• Data Management
Includes managing and updating specific datasets and identifying and testing new datasets, plus liaison with the UK GIS team re dataset requirements
• User Support
Includes being the first line of support for GIS users, identifying commonly-asked questions and developing the appropriate response, and liaising with the UK GIS team to implement any improvements that reduce the need for ongoing support. This also ties in to training delivery and the possible need for a GIS user group
