Speakers include: Farhana Sultana (Syracuse), Deborah Dixon
(Aberystwyth), Sarah Whatmore (Oxford) and Niamh Moore, (Manchester)
This seminar asks how global-scale ecological processes and events
calls new conceptualisations of risk, uncertainty, and anticipation
into being. How do alternative historical and geographical frameworks
contribute to developing more critical approaches to contemporary
environmental crises such as climate change, natural resource
depletion, and the relationship between the human and the non-human
world?
Attendance at this event is free but prior registration is required to
help with catering arrangements. To register for the seminar, please
contact Gemma Simpson ([log in to unmask]) as soon as
possible, and by FRIDAY 26th NOVERMBER 2010 at the latest.
Funds are available to support the travel costs of postgraduates,
postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers and unwaged
participants at the seminars. In order to apply for these funds,
please send your name, position, contact details and a statement of
your research interests and why you wish to attend the seminar (50
words maximum) to Gemma Simpson at the above email address by MONDAY
22th NOVERMBER 2010.
