JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Research Associate, Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport
JOB GRADE: Research Grade 6
DEPARTMENT: School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences
JOB PURPOSE: (Physical Activity, Health and Disability Sport)
To undertake work on *Sport Culture and Policy* and *Health and Well-being* themes of the Peter Harrison Centre (PHC) and to
contribute to the generating of future proposals for research in the broad area of physical activity, health and disability sport.
JOB DUTIES:
1. To plan and conduct research using innovative qualitative methods and applying a robust practice theory analysis.
2. Prepare reports as needed and contribute to the writing of high quality research funding applications.
3. Lead and contribute to the writing of social scientific research papers.
4. To provide assistance to PHC staff on centre-led projects and contribute to undergraduate teaching.
5. To develop contacts and collaborate with other researchers within disability sport and other sectors.
6. To produce applied social science research articles via the PHC web site and newsletters.
7. Contribute to the School*s ongoing research profile, by presenting research findings at internal and external seminars,
conferences and other forums are required.
8. Continually update knowledge and understanding in this specialism and translate knowledge of advances in the subject area into
research activity.
9. Work alongside other centre staff in actively promotion the work of the PHC.

Reports to: Dr David Howe (with input from Dr Brett Smith), Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport
Responsible for: None
Conditions of Service
This position is full-time and has funding for 24-months but will be offered initially on a fixed-term 12-month contract with a
negotiable start date. Salary will be Research Grade 6, £27,319 to £35,646 per annum and will be commensurate with experience and
qualifications.
