Hi Pat,
Replying list-wide in case others are interested!
Because of the nature of the Schools Participation Data, it is subject to data protection legislation and hence cannot be shared in any way other than in the format that people were given to understand it was to be used when they submitted it. This is one of the reasons why the website was password-protected and why the original reports were anonymised.
As part of the discussions about the future development of the service, I would love to hear thoughts about whether people would feel comfortable providing data about their interactions with schools if they knew it was going to be made openly available. Obviously, our preference would be for future contributions to be open and reusable, but I know that many people are wary both of betraying confidences and of the risk of museums being unfairly benchmarked against one another.
Yours sincerely,
Nick

Dear Nick,
As a museum support agency, Surrey Museums Consultative Committee has asked on several occassions for access to this data.
Is this possible?
I am sure there are others who would find it useful, too.
With best wishes,
Pat

Subject: [MCG] MLA Schools Participation Database
Dear MCGers,
I have been contacted by a number of you concerning the MLA Schools
Participation Database, which is currently down and showing a message to
the effect that it is being transferred to the Collections Trust.
I am sorry that those of you that are active users of the system didn't
receive a heads-up about this transition, and also that it hasn't been
possible to keep the system running while the data is transferred to us.
We will be contacting you about the service, but in the meantime if you
have any concerns, please do let me know.
Longer-term, we would very much like to build on our work last year with
Flow Associates reviewing the database, by evolving it into a broader
tool for monitoring and visualising participation. I'd love to hear
people's thoughts on this. We have created a new 'Schools Participation
Database Users Group' network on Collections Link, which we will use to
host the discussion about next steps for the service, so do please go
and join it if you are interested: http://tiny.cc/mla_spd.
Very best,
Nick
