Subject: Fwd: Student/Young Colleagues bursaries offered for a meeting on 29th November 2010
Dear Charles,
I think the email below is fairly explanatory of the current situation but I am not sure if it will go out to lis-sconul (university and national librarians group or not).
So I wonder if you know any students or young, beginning- career professionals who could benefit from attending the conference on 29th November.
It seems a shame to have 5 bursaries on offer and only two have been taken up. These are both by students of Peter Willett at Sheffield.
Do let me know if you have any suggestions of students or any other staff that I could consult.
Best wishes,
Diana

Dear SitMui,
Before I retired in July 2008 I was the Deputy University Librarian and Assistant Director of the John Rylands University Library at the University of Manchester. Bill Simpson was University Librarian.
Since then I have become involved in my original career of chemical information and am the co-organiser of an international meeting to be held at Burlington House in London on Monday 29th November 2010 entitled ' Celebrating the History of Chemical Information'.
We offered 5 student bursaries to cover attendance fees and travel expenses for students or young people at the very beginning of their professional career in chemical information to attend this meeting. So far only 2 out of the 5 bursaries have been taken up.
So we can still offer three more bursaries.
I am therefore, wondering whether you would be willing to send this message out to the SCONUL List asking people to contact me ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) if they would like to know more and may have a suitable student or young career professional.
I am attaching a sheet showing full details of the programme and also an elctronic booking form. I can take bookings up to Monday 15th November 2010.
Very grateful for any help with this request.
Kind reagrds,
Diana
