Hi
We also use JW player and have added captions to all of our videos:
http://www.mhs.manchester.ac.uk/undergraduate/profiles
We did try the auto captioning in Premiere Pro CS4 (not 5). It was so bad that it was only worth trying for amusement value. It takes so long to correct the mistakes that it's much faster to manually transcribe a video - find someone with audio typing skills. Once transcribed, there's then the problem of splitting it into timed segments, which we're doing manually.
If you're happy to have your videos hosted on YouTube, then if you upload a transcript along with your video, YouTube does a great job of working out the timings and creating captions:

YouTube can also transcribe videos for you, as described here http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/automatic-captions-in-youtube.html, but it's so inaccurate that I'd recommend transcribing your videos manually.
Cheers

Hi
We use JW player for our videos. I've been testing the captioning advice on: www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/22/making-video-accessible and it seems to be working well. I create a timed XML file which gives the start and stop time for each caption/subtitle.

Hi all
Has anyone got a decent solution for easily creating subtitles on a video? And is this functionality available in Premiere Pro CS5 (I can't seem to find any information about this feature).
We're looking to add subtitles to our weekly video blog from the Principal of the Faculty which is sent to all Faculty staff.
Thanks and regards!
