Hi Hester,
Lots of students find learning stats a nightmare (I was one of them) but
many stats books aren't very accessible for beginners. My main
recommendation would be Andy Field's 'Exploring Statistics Using SPSS', but
this is already listed on your website.
For learning the very basics of stats, two old classics are hard to beat:
'Simple Statistics' by Clegg, and at a more sophisticated level,
'Statistics Without Tears' by Rowntree. Neither of these books deal with
using SPSS - Field's book does this excellently - but are very good for
getting to grips with stats theory (normal distribution etc).
Regards,
John.
