I have seen other factual stuff flagged as "advert".
It may be just the wiki-Gestapo at work.
When I see this sort of accusation, I tend to post a respond along the lines
"It doesn't look like an advertisement to me. What is wrong with it?" Of
course, that works only when the comments come from someone who is not
involved in the entry.
From time to time I dive into Wikipedia and try to do a copy editing job on
articles that interest me. One of Wikipedia's problems is dreadful writing
rather than blatant self publicity.
One way to counter accusations of the latter can be to include links to
other sites in the same caper. In other words, provide context.

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Wikipaedia
Hi everybody
I work for SCI-FUN at the University of Edinburgh and I recently took on
the task of editing the Wikipaedia page on SCI-FUN
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sci-Fun), which was, at the time, a stub
and out-of-date. I added a load of content and all was good for a
couple of weeks, but a wiki-person seems to have found it recently and
has tagged that it reads like an advert, and could be marked for future
deletion, and that I should not be editing it due to a conflict of
interest (I was not aware of wikipaedia policy on conflicts of interest
before this).
I read it over and over, and I don't think it reads like an advert,
indeed I intentionally avoided any kind of opinion or adjectives. I
would be grateful if anybody has the time to give it a quick read and
see if you think it reads like an advert, and if it does, if you do have
the time, please take a stab at editing it.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Emily
