In essence this is in the long term a return to the situation that prevailed
before the introduction of Attendance and Mobility allowance (the precursors
of DLA) and pre income support, which built in differerent rates for
disabled people.
In sum a total disavowal of the additional costs of disability whether one
is in work or no.
Work alone is not a solution unless it is significantly higher earning work
than average.
Thing is who do we have to convince? Civil servants? The Lib Dems?
I worry that the lib dems are more afraid of the consequences of the next
election to revolt and possibility bring it forward given they have totally
destroyed any faith with the people who elected them on a basis of policy
not stable government per se.
I sincerely hope I can survive through this onslaught long enough to draw a
pension in 2021 (it would have been 2020) unless any kindly University is
willing to pay me a wage in the meantime, so's I can complete my research.
I am expecting to have to start fighting for my IB any time between spring
2011, and 2012. I'll appeal of course if I lose it, but it seems the
Government will cut the overall bill by hook or by crook, by fair means or
foul (mostly foul)
