> Is there a way to recreate the middle mouse button moving around spectra with a magic mouse on a mac? Maybe by holding down a key and then using either left or right click?
Hi Mark,
We've been thinking about this, so if we could reach a consensus on direction that would be great!
OSX has all sorts of great mouse/trackpad gestures that we could use, but unfortunately Tk (and so our GUI libraries) loose nearly all of these - it only keeps left click, right click etc.
I found that I could use my Magic Mouse as you say by pressing the trackball down and moving the mouse. If that doesn't work for you, then maybe adjusting some preferences in X11 or the Mouse System Preferences might help (three button emulation rings a bell - I'm away from my iMac so I can't test this).
However, this doesn't help track pad users. I think that having a key to hold down whilst moving the mouse/trackpad would be a good idea. Tim suggested that we use the mac 'Apple' (command?) button as Linux and Windows won't have this button. Do you have another suggestion? There's something to be said about keeping things consistent between OS, but until Tk notices gestures or Apple release a 3-button mouse (heresy!) then I think this is the best solution.
Also, should we 'hold, click and drag' or just 'hold and drag' ? - hold, click and drag might be difficult for trackpad users.
