Two ideas:
1. Create a file in your home directory called ~/.curlrc
and in it put the following line:
-P - ftp
2. Use wget
first, install wget with fink
Then put the line
DownloadMethod: wget
into the file
/sw/etc/fink.conf (or /sw64/etc/fink.conf ).
I use wget. It seems to be more robust somehow.
