Dear Colleagues
Please find leaflet advertising an exhibition, symposium and
conversation at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.
These events may be of interest to long-standing members of ARLIS who
might recall a microfiche journal distribution initiative and the
student journals Statements and Analytical Art or perhaps the
continuing Art-Language.
Two exhibitions - at Coventry University and the Herbert Art Gallery
& Museum - explore the late 1960s and 1970s educational terrain,
subsequent work with trade unions and campaigns.
The Symposium The Coventry Echo draws on that legacy to address art
education today.
The Conversation on local TV explores the exclusion of local voices
and spaces in TV broadcasting - extending some of the art issues four
decades ago in a Campaign that is beginning to enter wider public
discussion as digital TV frees up frequencies for new use.
Hope you can get to one or more of the events at the Herbert Art
Gallery & Museum and Coventry University in November.
Please forward to students and colleagues as appropriate.
With Regards,
Dave Rushton
