Age of Enlightenment Symposium - Sunday 31st October 2010
One of the most striking aspects of the Wedgwood Museum is the diversity of the exhibits, particularly the 18th century, reflecting the intellectual atmosphere of the time where individuals were not constrained by the title of artist or scientist but rather it was possible to be both – and more.
Such freedom of thought created an extremely fertile environment for Josiah Wedgwood and his associates to develop and exchange ideas on cultural, political, social, moral, scientific and artistic levels as never before.
Illustrating the multi-faceted nature of the Enlightenment, we are delighted to be joined by distinguished speakers who will each deliver a fascinating lecture on this period in our history.
