The November seminar from Archives for London is a special visit to The Royal Society to celebrate their 350th anniversary.
- - -
On 30 November 1660 a dozen men gathered to hear the young Christopher Wren give a lecture. In the discussion that followed they decided to form a Society for the study of the new and still controversial "Physico-Mathematical Experimental Learning".
Two years later Charles II made it his Royal Society. Since then its Fellows have given us gravity, evolution, the electron, the double helix, the internet and a large part of the modern world.
Join AfL and Keith Moore, The Royal Society’s Head of Library & Information Services, to find out how the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence has celebrated its 350th anniversary, and for a private tour of their special exhibition.
Thursday 4 November 2010, 6:00pm (tour at 5:30pm) - 7:30pm
at The Royal Society Library, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AG
