Hi there,
The ARA Data Standards Group are interested in running a one-day course on XSLT and would like to
gauge how many people would be interested in attending such a course. Stylesheets for XML
are important as a means to transform XML documents, typically into HTML for display on the Web.
Our intention is to organise an introductory course, but it would be preferable for delegates to
have prior knowledge of the EAD syntax. The aim would not be to make archivists into experts in
XSLT, but rather to help people gain an understanding of what stylesheets do, and how to read them.
Maybe it would also be useful to be able to modify existing stylesheets to display EAD descriptions
in different ways.
Please could you get back to me if you might be interested in attending a course like this? The
likelihood is that it will be in London, and that we will have to charge to cover costs. We envisage
something around £50 per head, depending upon numbers. We would look to arrange it for the spring
(March/April) but we do not have a set date at present.
with kind regards,
Jane.
