Dear All,
Over the years I have enjoyed this list, having sometime participated.
It might be a little off topic, because not really archeological.
My loved grandmother just passed away, peacefully , she was 100 years old.
She lived in Alsace (France) as her ancestors.
She used for many decades an old cast-iron pot (marmitte). (She was a great
cook)
On the pot, there are the 2 letters A and C, intertwined.
I first thought about Coulaux Aine et Freres, which took over the Royal
Armory Factory
nearby at Klingenthal: www.klingenthal.fr but they used other stamps.
I have made several researches on the net, including emailing to the World
Foundry
Association and son on. No result yet. (using AC, CA, A.C, C.A)
1- my mother saw that pot as a child: it is over 70 years old.
2- Alsace, being at the border of Germany and Switzerland, it could also be
coming
from these countries.
3- most of other old objects: tools, agricultural tools, stoves etc... come
from Alsace
or close areas, as it certainly was almost everywhere at the end of 19th
century- beg 20th,
once would mostly buy locally.
Any information welcome.
Thank you !
