Hi Sharon
I haven't seen it first hand, but indeed, it does look like it could
provide a useful additional layer of safety. In general, there is no
guaranteed delivery time for SMS messages. While there are normally
delivered within a few seconds, there is no guarantee that this will always
be the case. Organisations should continue to make sure that all areas of a
building are swept during an evacuation, provided that this does not put
fire wardens at risk.
I would wonder a bit about the practicality of signing on by text message -
how many people will actually do this? How do they sign off the system -
presumably by another text message? Does the system clear off all
registered visitors overnight?
Best regards
Shane

Hello everyone,
Just wondered if anyone had come across the deaf message service
provided by Fireco or had seen the system in action?
Further info can be found on the website below.
http://www.firecoltd.com/DMS.asp
I would be grateful for any info on what people think to it. It sounds
like a good service as an additional layer of safety, but not something
that could be the sole method of ensuring people who are deaf or hard of
hearing are aware of the need to evacuate a building.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Sharon
