Indigenous Religious
DePaul University's Department of Religious Studies invites applications for
a full time, tenure-track appointment in indigenous religions. The
successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in at least one area
pertaining to the study of indigenous religions (e.g., African, Latin
American or Native American, Asian, or European indigenous traditions) as
well as promise as both a scholar and a teacher at the university level. In
addition to having scholarly expertise in particular indigenous traditions,
candidates are expected to show a methodological sensitivity to the ways in
which these traditions have overlapped and intermixed with other traditions,
both native and non-native. Candidates should be familiar with comparative
approaches to the study of religion, as well as issues of religious
syncretism and transculturation.
