Dear Museums Computer Group members,
Please see below an update about the OpenCulture 2010 meeting which is taking place next week in the Netherlands, and which includes the launch of the new Public Domain Mark in association with Creative Commons.
I’d encourage any of you that are interested in or curious about Europeana to register for one of the few remaining places. If you are considering contributing content to Europeana, we may be able to cover your costs of attending, so please do let either Gordon McKenna ([log in to unmask]) or I know.
Also, next year, we are organising OpenCulture 2011 as a 2-day Collections Management Exhibition and Conference. We are currently finalising the programme, but the current themes are:
· The Strategic Role of Collections
· Next-Generation Collections Management
· Collections Management and the End-user
To find out more, join the pre-conference network and register to attend, go to http://www.openculture2011.org.uk.
All best,
Nick
Europeana is delighted to announce that the finale of our Open Culture 2010 conference in Amsterdam will be the launch of the Public Domain Mark in association with Creative Commons. The Mark will become the international online standard to represent content that's in the public domain. Europeana will use it to show all out-of-copyright content, so that users can immediately identify it in their results. Alongside the Mark will be Usage Guidelines for public domain content.
The programme for 14/15 October is now finalised and available to download and print: http://group.europeana.eu/web/europeana-plenary-2010/programme
We now have 320 delegates registered for the conference and our capacity is 350. Register now <http://group.europeana.eu/web/europeana-plenary-2010/registration> for one of the remaining places - and please, if you've registered but can't attend, let us know so we can offer your place to someone else. NB: The Linked Data thematic track is now full, but User Generated Content and Risks and Rewards of open data still have places.
We look forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam
