Dear ThCl clubbers and friends,
The 4th Thursday Club in the 2010 autumn season presents another exciting
event:
Thursday 21st October 6-8pm
Richard Tipping is a sound poet from Australia. He will be showing his
video documentary of the late Bob Cobbing (shortly to be published on DVD
from Artpoem, distributed in UK by Writers Forum) in which Cobbing
illustrates his working methods for the camera and is seen in performance
of the work he has just made with musician Hugh Metcalfe.
Richard will also preview his book Off the page (Writers Forum, to be
launched on 30th October 2010).
He will be joined on stage by Lawrence Upton for the discussion of
Cobbing; and the two also hope to perform from their recent collaborative
work ANAGRAM GNOS
Richard Kelly Tipping studied film, philosophy and literature at Flinders
University and completed a doctorate at the University of Technology
Sydney.
He lectures in media arts in the School of Design, Communication and
Information Technology at the University of Newcastle, NSW.
He explores the physical qualities of language as a sculptor and
word-artist, exhibiting around the world.
He is represented by Australian Galleries and small versions of some of
his ‘artsigns’ are available through the stores of the Museum of Modern
Art and the Tate Modern.
Richard is visiting London this month, working with Lawrence Upton on
experimental word-sound-image projects, launching his new book with
Writers Forum and exhibiting at the Bookartbookshop in Hoxton.
