The following information is posted by Norbert Hoeller, on behalf of the BID Community Advisory Group (Ashok Goel, Petra Gruber, Norbert Hoeller, Janice McDougall, Tom McKeag, Eileen Stephens, Karen Verbeek, Marc Weissburg, Jeannette Yen). My apologies if you have already seen this.
You are invited to join a new community that promotes the practice of bio-inspired design (BID), particularly the 'challenge to biology' approach. The community will attract people who are drawn by the power of BID to overcome conceptual barriers and are looking for pragmatic design frameworks, tools and methods. The community will give like-minded individuals the opportunity to collaborate on developing and expanding BID.
Thanks to the support of Georgia Tech's Center for Biologically Inspired Design, the BioInspired! newsletter is being re-launched as a key communication vehicle for the BID Community. In the tradition of the previous newsletter, a wide range of material will be presented but with a clear focus on individuals and organizations committed to the practical application of bio-inspired design. Community members will have first access to future issues.
You can read the articles online by clicking on the article titles at http://bioinspired.sinet.ca/newsletter/7/3. A PDF of the newsletter can be downloaded from http://bioinspired.sinet.ca/content/september-2010-newsletter-issue-73-bioinspired-re-launch.
Anyone visiting the site will be able to read the first issue of the newsletter, archives of past BioInspired! issues and John Mlade's e-magazine. Information from the TypePad Events and Resources weblogs has also been migrated. Please take a few minutes to register on the website, a relatively painless process described in the Call to Action article. Registration gives you access to member forums, gives us the opportunity to recognize member contributions and helps fight Spam.
