Hi
Just to add to this, we moved from Gloucester to Cheltenham in 1993. We got
to design a space from ground up so it was pretty much what we wanted we got
- we had an APHE meeting here (in 94) to shqw off new build and host the
launch of Beyond the Lens with AOP.
So its a bit sooner than anticipated but we are going to be moving campus in
2011 and this time will be converting existing space. We are taking Black
and White and alternative processes with us as well as improving the digital
which we just didn't really plan for 17 years ago. The colour print side is
all but dead with the exception of colour negs being scanned so with great
reluctance the colour print darkwoom ends with the move.
The secret of the last move and hopefully this one was to design very
flexible spaces that allow different staff and new technologies to flourish
without finding yourselves stuck with a space so specifically designed that
it won't work anymore. Large studios with flexible partitioning have allowed
us to photograph cars, still life, fashion and they work as large lecture
rooms - similar approach is being taken for the next move
