Henry and Nigel
There was for many years, a whalebone arch on top of North Berwick Law,
a 600ft volcanic plug overlooking the town. About five or six years ago,
it became so badly weathered that it fell down. However, so iconic was
this to the town, that they commissioned a search fro a new set of
jaw-bones, but being unable to source them have made a fibre-glass
replica which stands there today.

Subject: Re: whalebone arches in the UK
Hello- there is one at Latheronweel (Caithness)- probably something in
Orkney and Shetland too. The old whaling station at Bunavoneader
(Harris) has lots of whalebone lying around (very crumbly, a bit like
an Aero in texture).
Yours,
Henry
