I'm forwarding (below) the first announcement of UK Language Variation and
Change 8 (UKLVC8) - the 2011 edition of the UK's biennial Language
Variation and Change conference, which will take place at Edge Hill
University, North-West England, in a year's time. There is little on the
website yet, but you may wish to bookmark it. The Call for Papers will be
issued in November. Many leading UK and European scholars of LVC usually
take part in this conference; participants from across the world are, of
course, welcome.
If anyone would like to be kept in touch with UKLVC developments directly
(getting the CfP as soon as it is out, and so on), they are invited to

We are pleased to announce that the 8th UK Language Variation and Change conference will take place at Edge Hill University, Lancashire, between the 12th and 14th of September 2011. These are confirmed dates, so you can mark them in your diaries.
The keynote speakers at UKLVC8 will be:
