Dear Dermeval (and other non-native English speakers!)
First, thanks for joining the list! It's very international - people from
over 50 countries have looked at the site, and dozens of countries are
represented in the membership. This is exactly what I wanted when I set it
up.
I think it's probably best to keep the main discussions on the list itself
in English - this is mainly so that discussions in another language that
people don't understand do not end up taking up a lot of space in the
inboxes of people who can't read them!
However, we're linguists. So what I suggest is that, if you would like to
post a question in another language, please by all means send it to the
list. If people would like to respond to it, they can then do so directly
to you rather than sending their responses to the whole list. In this way,
you could have a discussion in the best language for you, and other people
who did not speak that language would not have to receive the replies.
Might that work?
Damien
