“Risk Taking for Resilience”, an EPSRC funded research project with focus on
the UK port industry & critical national infrastructure
Nottingham University Business School is a leading centre for management
education and research and forms part of one of the most successful
universities in the UK. The School is located in state-of-the-art premises
on the award winning Jubilee Campus, a few minutes from the University Park
campus. The School conducts world-class research and achieved a Grade 5 in
the 2001 RAE.
Applications are invited for the above post to work in the Operations
Management Division on the EPSRC funded “Risk Taking for Resilience” project
(ep/i005935/1). The project was brought to life in November 2009 at the
EPSRC Next Generation Resilience Research Sandpit and is a collaborative
effort with Durham University and University College London. It brings
together the expertise of six researchers from multiple disciplines –
including transport and logistics, port and cross-border operations,
psychology, and computer simulation – plus industry partners within the UK
port sector. A key responsibility of the person appointed will be the
management of focus groups at UK ports. This involves working with
practitioners at the ports, regulators, policy makers and fellow
researchers. Other key activities include the analysis of focus group and
interview data, cross-disciplinary theory development as well as the
production of project documentation and research publications.
Candidates are required to have a Masters degree in a relevant area and
ideally a PhD in a relevant area and/or significant relevant experience in
industry or policy making. Good communication skills are essential.
This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until September
2012.
