Hello Dimitri,
the spm8_updates_rxxxx.zip archive contains all files that have been
created or modified since the first release of SPM8 (r3042). Files that
have been deleted are not removed with our updates procedure but their
list will be returned with 'spm_check_installation full' (there are
currently about 25) and you can delete them by yourself if you want (I'm
not aware of any harm that their presence would cause though).
So to install the latest version of SPM8 (r4010), two options:
* download the latest spm8.zip, full stop.
If you install the updates on top of it, it won't actually do anything
and it shouldn't harm.
* if you have a previous version of SPM8 installed and want to upgrade,
download the updates spm8_updates_rxxx.zip, and do:
rm -rf spm8/external/{fieldtrip,fileio,forwinv,ctf}
unzip -o spm8_updates_r4010.zip -d spm8
You can then recompile the MEX-files if necessary, using the
instructions from here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/SPM#Installation
and remembering what you mentioned in your first email (files
spm8/external/fieldtrip/private/geometry.{h,c} are missing in
spm8/external/fieldtrip/inverse/private/).
All the best,
Guillaume.
