Announces a Tenure-Track Position in Islamic Studies
Applicants should have an earned doctorate at the time of appointment
(ABD considered if near completion). The position requires a
demonstrated commitment to teaching, active engagement in scholarly
research and publishing in the study of Islam, and participation in
the Religious Studies
department?s contribution to the University?s mission as a Catholic
and Marianist university. Responsibilities include creating and
teaching undergraduate courses in the common academic program as well
as more specialized undergraduate and master courses in the religious
dimensions of Islam. Preference will be given to those with an earned
doctorate, experience in undergraduate teaching, and experience
working with students from diverse backgrounds. Appointment is at the
assistant professor level. Salary is competitive.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN, Department of Religious Studies,
invites applications for an open rank position (tenure-track or
tenured) in the field of Religion in North America. We especially
encourage applicants who have familiarity with methodological and
theoretical issues in the study of religion and who can contribute to
a new graduate program in Religious Studies. The successful applicant
will demonstrate expertise in the study of religion in the United
States but should also have an interest in situating more localized
studies in the context of the Atlantic World, the Pacific World, or
the Western Hemisphere. The rank and salary for this position will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Senior scholars
should have a substantial record of publication; junior scholars
should have completed a Ph.D. prior to August 20, 2011. All applicants
should have documented evidence of teaching excellence and a clearly
defined research agenda. The selected candidate will be expected to
teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research
program, direct graduate research, participation in departmental
colloquia, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity,
and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and
