These courses might have the intention you mention, but the reality is that most of the graduates from them probably do end up teaching on them. After all, what else are these graduates capable of doing in the real world? It's not like they have a degree in Law, or something, where there is nearly always employment--given the litigious culture we live in.

created to produce people who are more creative in writing
and/or the other arts. I've never thought of them as aiming
at producing teachers for MFA programs. I've never studied
