I don't know about what our staff do (its not something I have to deal
with myself) but please bear in mind that leaving USB memory sticks lying
around (in labs, outside buildings, etc, etc) is a well know way of
spreading malware (trojans, viruses, etc). The general advice is to not
open such a memory stick on a normal Windows machine at all (especially
one is mis-configured to autorun from USB - that's just an infection
vector waiting to happen).
