Subject: Town Fords
Hi,
I am trying to help one of our town councils with a query which forum members may be able to help with:
"I have been asked to find out information relating to the town Ford in Buckingham, I have been asked to find other instances of towns that have urban fords. The Councillors have identified it as an area that needs improving. I wondered if you had any information regarding town fords or knew of any instances of other urban town fords?"
The ford in question was the site of the main bridge over the Ouse into Buckingham until a new bridge was built downstream c 1800.
I would be grateful for information!
Thanks.
