Seminar 3: Governmentalising Community, 10:30am-4:30pm, School of
Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol.
Speakers include: Lynn Staeheli (Durham), Jane Foot (Policy Practitioner),
Janet Newman (Open) and Patricia Noxolo (Sheffield)
This seminar will consider notions of gendered identity governing
conceptualisations of 'active' citizenship and political
organisation. For example, it will ask how new forms of governance are
enacted by discourses that endorse policy and political practice through
shifting notions of individual and collective social identities.
It is the third seminar to be held as part of ESRC Seminar Series,
'Feminism and Futurity: New Times, New Spaces', hosted by the School of
Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol.
Attendance at this event is free but prior registration is required to
help with catering arrangements. To register for the seminar, please
contact Gemma Simpson ([log in to unmask]) as soon as possible, and by
FRIDAY 15th OCTOBER 2010 at the latest.
Programme for the seminar and the abstracts for the talks will shortly be
available at:
