Oh yes, definitely, poetry is habit forming, and I've always been
interested in what forms those habits. I know where my own come from.
I have also tried before to talk about how poetry HURTS our
sensibilities in ways that other art forms do not - dislikes in poetry
become almost visceral - listening to something we don't like acts as
a physical experience. The reasons for this are to do with the nature
of language in relation to our everyday experience of the world - but
yes, formed habits of reading and liking a type of poetry would
certainly fit my theory.
