John's notice about David Chaloner's obituary has reminded me that
John Hall himself could easily be in my list.
Now John, you know I'm not a crawler, but your poetry is an excellent
example of a type of poetry (I'm talking about your older stuff here,
not the more recent visuals) that most definitely does not supply what
the mainstream wants, without it being obscure or any of the other
adjectives people throw around. Don't be coy - tell us why you think
this is.
And sorry for hogging the list this morning. I'm off now, and off
tomorrow - up to Tilla's picnic in Porlock to hear Harriet Tarlo.
Anyone around that way tomorrow try to get there. I'll be reading with
my mate Steve Spence (Forward Poetry prise first book final 5 nominee
- yes the Mainstream's flagship has been boarded and plundered) - I'm
going to sing my own version of Morrissey's 'Don't you just hate it
when your friends become successful'.
Cheers
Tim
