Hi Andy,
Thanks for your feedback. I will pass it onto our IT people.
I tried to remove the announcements 1 by 1 but that did not work. The system would not allow me to do so. However I then tried "Bulk Delete" in the "Packages and Utilities" options, selected Announcements, confirmed the request to delete and submitted the command. Worked fine in that I was able to add announcements.
Before we knew there was a problem a colleague in Architecture did this as a matter of course to clear out all his old announcements from last year and he was able to add an announcement without any problem. I am hoping that Bb will come back and confirm the "Bulk Delete" option as a workaround.
Best,
Arthur

I think this is probably the same problem we had, which was apparently caused by some old announcements having a "display from" date greater than the "display to" date.
Blackboard sent us some SQL code to run, which fixed this problem.
see http://kb.blackboard.com/display/KB/Instructors+cannot+add+or+remove+Announcements
Incidentally when you say: execute a "Bulk Delete" on Announcements, do you mean you go through deleting them one by one, or is there actually a Bulk Delete command which I've somehow missed?
all the best

Hi,
Forgot to add that when I execute a "Bulk Delete" on Announcements I am then able to add Announcements. However I have no desire to make this a general solution for staff in case more than the Announcements get inadvertently deleted.
best,
Arthur
