events are free and drop-in but remember places are limited!

Caribbean Liming Families Night
Friday 10 September
Sackler Centre
18.00-21.00
Soak up the Caribbean with an evening of song and dance for families of
all ages. Join a parade featuring island sounds with Paddington Arts
ELIMU Steel Band. Listen to folk tales and sing songs with Calypso
Monarch 2010 Alexander D. Great and interpret dances for a Caribbean
Carnival with performance artist, theatre director and carnivalist Greta
Mendez. Let Diverse Associates paint a flag of your choice on your cheek
and design Caribbean Characters on Sticks with artist and designer Ray
Mahabir. Make and wear a headdress with mask and decorate a transparent
island seascape with artist and carnival photographer Maureen O’Brien.
Remember to Lime is to hang out Caribbean style, so make a night of it!

be collected at 18.00 from the Sackler Reception.

Satchmo Remembered with The Cleveland Watkiss Quintet

Celebrate the legacy of legendary jazz virtuoso Louis Armstrong AKA
Satchmo and his Hot Five quintet, as part of the Grace Kelly: Style Icon
exhibition season. Join Cleveland Watkiss winner of the London Jazz
Awards for Best Vocalist 2010 and his quintet, as they play songs
recorded by Louis and Ella Fitzgerald and tracks from High Society,
Grace Kelly's last film. Bonnie Greer, award-winning novelist,
playwright and author will also present a short biography of Louis
Armstrong and introduce the quintet. An evening truly not to be missed!
