POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE – ANCIENT DNA
UNIVERSITY OF OSLO, NORWAY
A three-year postdoctoral research fellowship is available in a project entitled
Thanatos: Dead bodies – live data. A study of funerary material from the
Hellenistic-Roman-Byzantine town Hierapolis in Phrygia, Turkey (funded by the
Norwegian Research Council).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the molecular-genetic analysis
of archaeological bones and preparation of samples for isotope analysis.
Prospective candidates should have experience in ancient DNA research and a
strong interest in other techniques involving archaeological bone.
Candidates should possess a PhD in an area related to ancient bone DNA typing,
and should have submitted their dissertation. Applications must include of a
letter of application, a project description (3-5 pages) describing the
methodological approach proposed by the applicant to complete the project, and
a CV with a list of publications. In exceptional cases, a candidate without a
PhD might be considered.
