Research Assistant/Associate in Epidemiology MRC Centre for Causal Analyses in
Translational Epidemiology, School of Social and Community Medicine, University

We are seeking to appoint a talented and able epidemiologist/medical
statistician to contribute to analyses of family based studies using large
record linkages and in house cohort studies, including the Avon Longitudinal
Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) and other cohort studies held at the MRC
CAiTE/School of Social & Community Medicine. The post holder will complete
statistical analyses and contribute to writing papers for journal publication.
Approaches will include within and between sibling comparisons,
intergenerational studies and use of family members as instrumental variables.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to lead projects, being first author
on relevant papers and presenting research findings at conferences.
The appointment will be full-time on Grade I or J (depending on qualifications
and level of experience) of the University’s new grade structure and is offered
as a fixed term contract until 31st August 2012 (the candidate can start as soon
as they are able). While funding for this post is available for a fixed term
only, there may be opportunities for outstanding candidates to continue working
in the School beyond this time and/or to apply for fellowships with support from
senior academics in the School. The post is ideally suited to someone with a PhD
in epidemiology or medical statistics, although excellent MSc candidates will
also be considered.
Grade : Research assistant/associate; single spline I or J (depending on experience)
Salary : £29,853 to £33,600 depending upon background and previous experience
