There are two new jobs being advertised at Techniquest Glyndwr; We are looking for a Director and an Education/Learning Manager:

Director, Techniquest Glyndŵr

Full time post (fixed term contract until 31st March 2012)

£36,000 - £40,000

 
Techniquest Glyndŵr is looking for an ambitious, innovative and motivated Director to lead it through its next ambitious phase of development, including the development of a new building and the establishment of the north and mid Wales hub of the National Academy for Wales. The Director will oversee the work of the senior management team, providing leadership, devising and implementing a fundraising strategy, and engaging with business to secure a new and exciting focus to developments. The Director will be active in seeking supporting funds, communicating with strategic partners (including the Welsh Assembly Government), identifying and developing external partnerships, and promoting the work of TQG to external organisations.

 
The successful applicant will be joining TQG as it embarks on a period of ambitious development and will be expected to play a strategic role in shaping the future of the organisation and positioning the centre as the recognised resource for STEM engagement and enrichment in north and mid Wales.

 
The successful applicant will be educated to at least degree level, have a STEM background and experience of management in an education centre, visitor attraction, museum or similar business. Experience of working with influential and key partners, such as Government agencies, senior academics and businesses is essential.

Education/Learning Manager

Full time post (fixed term contract until 31st March 2012)

£25,000 - £27,500

 
TQG is looking for a creative and proactive Education/Learning Manager to manage, develop and deliver all aspects of the schools and public learning programmes, both at the centre and as outreach, including overseeing the work of staff involved in programme development and delivery.

 
The Education Manager will be active in promoting the centre to schools, developing rewarding long-term partnerships, and will play a strategic role in the continuing development of the facility.

 
You will be educated to degree level with a science background and have taught in a primary or secondary school or have similar experience and have an up-to-date understanding of schools’ curriculum requirements and current educational agendas for Wales and England. Experience of working in informal learning in science centres, visitor centres or museums is desirable.

 
This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to contribute to the future development of TQG and science communication developments within the University.

 
Both post holders will be based at TQG Science Discovery Centre, Glyndŵr University, Wrexham, North Wales but expected to work across other University centres, as necessary.
