*APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING*
We would like to invite you to the ‘Developing Data Management Expertise in Research’ workshop, which will take place on the afternoon of October 21st in London. This half-day workshop brings together speakers who are actively engaged in supporting the data management to share their experience of working with data creators and managers to embed data management expertise.
The workshop will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn from best practice approaches that are beginning to emerge and discuss gaps in current data management provision where further investigation is needed. Speakers will reflect on the challenges faced by data creators in the institution, the strategies that have been adopted to address their needs and the resources that are available for wider use.
The workshop will cover the following themes:
* The experience of data creators & managers when maintaining data created in HE institutions, the issues that they encounter and the requirements that they express;
* Approaches that have been trialled by different institutions and recommendations that can be made on the most effective methods to support data creators & managers;
* Resources, including tools and documentation, available to guide and support data creators & managers;
* Gaps in current data management support and areas where further work is needed;
