Within a five mile drive, I count 19 separately-owned markets and supermarkets which I could scout when out--on the basis of quality, price, and convenience. Can't say anything other than near-accidents (and The Washington Sniper) have come to my attention in their parking lots. I do hunt wild mushrooms, though I joined the Mycological Association of Washington to reduce the odds of consuming those which might be poisonous.
